This is a short book full of strategies to help control and prevent anxiety or panic attacks. Although methods for help with panic and anxiety attacks are given throughout the book, I particularly like the last section of the book that deals with “Stopping Your Unwanted Thoughts” and “Alternative Remedies”. These sections were well written and gives information about what a general person can do to help themselves. The first half deals with definitions of different types of anxiety and panic attacks and as well as the thinking process that is written for any general reader, but more relevant for a student or mental health professional.

Very few people know what it’s like living with panic attacks. I know first-hand the troubles and pain it causes. Not only to those that suffer panic attacks, but to their families as well. My family and I are survivors of this terrible, terrible affliction that can ruin so many lives. Our daughter grew up in a house dominated by the excuses made by all of us to justify the behaviors of the person she adored most… her mother.

My wife suffered from panic attacks for the better part of 15 years. It got worse over time… In fact, she suffered so bad from this disorder, she only would leave the house under much duress and when she had no other choices left to avoid it. All in all, over the course of her bout with this curse, she only left home a couple dozen times. To say the least, it made growing up “normal” extremely difficult on our daughter.

Our daughter is all grown up now and moved on to her own life. She is quite happy, sparkly and the love of our lives. She seems to have turned out great despite the hell she went through growing up with her mother in such a state for the better part of her childhood.

My wife finally beat this scourge on our family just before our daughter’s high school graduation. My daughter remembers the day she graduated vividly as the day “Mom” came to her school. The only time she remembers that happening before, was on her first day of kindergarten when Mom rode on the bus with her and Dad followed in the car to make sure she made it safe.

How did my wife beat having anxiety and panic attacks? Well she finally ran into some of the same techniques in this book… Meditation, self hypnosis, yoga, eating better, kicking some bad habits and such really helped her with her struggle to “get sane again”. (her words, not mine) We all only wish we would have found this kind of information years ago. Having a normal life would have been worth ten thousand times the cost of a book like this.

I have read a million books on anxiety and I am sorry for the blah review but if I do not remember what I read or if I do not still have the book in my kindle then at best it was ok. Maybe for someone who has never read a book this would be great and maybe the writing was great and maybe I should not be reviewing this book but …………………

This was really informative! As someone who’s unknowingly been dealing with a lot of dormant anxiety, this book gave me a great insight on what to look for and when to seek help if needed. I would definitely say this is worth reading, whether you are someone trying to cure your anxiety or want to learn more about the condition. Everything was very clear, concise, and comprehensible. This was a great resource. Though informative, it wasn’t boring, which I appreciated!

Anxiety sufferers rejoice! This is a necessary resource whether you are suffering, helping a loved one, or simply doing research. Lundell follows the same characteristic structure she uses in the other two books in her series which I have also had the chance to read. I love her explain first and guide second strategy which I have adopted in my own practice.
