This book was easy to understand for my 7 year old and she loves working through the activities. In the first couple of weeks her teacher has noticed a vast improovement in her. I also found out that the counselor at school used to use the same very book with the kids she would help. I am able to photocopy the pagesand share my daughters insights with her counselors so that it is easier for all of us to work together. This book was written in such a way that my seven year old enjoys it and I can find her reading through it on her own. She has even adopted the title as her personal mantra. I could not be happier!

It’s okay, but my child lost interest after about the 4th lesson. Not great.

I have reviewed hundreds of self-help books over the years especially as I am now a wellness coach who mentors midcareer women stuck in drama, karma and chaos to look within to create happiness, peace, and confidence by tapping in to their best way to navigate whatever life brings their way. I have taught in the pre-nursing program at Alverno College and Northcentral Technical College since 2001. I have an M.S. in Cellular Biology (pre-med), and an M.S. in environmental education. I am a licensed massage therapist and I have variety of certifications in herbalism, toastmasters, leadership, IB Environmental Systems, Grant writing, Conflict Resolution, and more! I have worked in a variety of places including private boarding schools, public schools, youth camps, tour guiding in Alaska, nonprofit organizations and colleges. I have trained and led groups in remote wilderness areas as well as workshops in the classroom.

I am especially impressed with the way John Hodges presents the information in a no-nonsense, easy to understand, comprehensive, & interesting style. You will gain a clear understanding of the bad habits we do and how we can break those negative patterns by trying new possibilities. The science-based information gives excellent suggestions & exercises in how to better control stress and anxiety by challenging our default processes. I successfully teach many of these positive coping skills to my clients.

Daily stress has become a part of our daily lives. There is stress all around us coming from job, studies, families, partners and friends as well. We are racing at the “speed of life” in a hectic world. We are running all the time, trying to compete as many tasks as we can, living up to other people’s expectations and we often forget to look after ourselves. Stress and anxiety can do damage to our body both mentally and physically. We have to change our mindset in order to get rid of anxiety, stress, and depression we can do that by slowing down, accepting ourselves as we are, monitor our thoughts and emotions, and, share and face our fears.

He gives examples of being the observer and diffusing arguments. He talks about dealing with emotional loss and how tragedies of the heart can lead us into the deepest and darkest places! And, who hasn’t been there? He also addresses how people now turn to self-medicating themselves through “Life’s Cookies” (alcohol, drugs, sex or food).

The beauty of this book is that the author gives 30 practical and easy suggestions for banishing stress and anxiety to redirect negative thoughts and emotions that lead us into the dark void of depression. Some of these include eating healthy (green smoothies), getting enough sleep, exercise, and breathing exercises. These are simple and yet easy suggestions to implement in our daily routine and break out of old patterns that no longer serve us and will banish anxiety and stress. He clearly explains how easy it is to fall into the “rabbit hole” yet offers easy, practical solutions for getting out!!

This book teaches us how important it is to live in the present moment in all things, work, relationships, eating healthy meals and everyday activities. Because of technology we have lost the skills of simple visual and vocal communication as we now engage mostly in virtual communication. And we wonder where all of the miscommunication comes from???

Thanks to this book, many people will be able to understand what causes anxiety and stress as well as simple, effective, positive, coping strategies to prevent it. I will definitely recommend this book to my students, colleagues and friends! In the words of our John Hodges, “Be Kind to Yourself,~You Deserve It!!”

Its an educational book and very supportive to overcome mindfulness. From the earliest starting point the book ensures that it instructs the peruser that the way to care require commitment.

I truly value the fair tone of the author he readies the peruser to acknowledge the truth this is no lighten technique yet one that works after some time.

The book is extremely efficient and clarify every one of the wordings and techniques on the point altogether. What truly make this book sparkle is that it doesn’t mull over that you are as of now educated and goes the additional mile to characterize the procedure, its advantages, and all the more significantly reply with respect to why they assume a vital part in reflection. Really to follow

“The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step” This opening quote sets the tone for John Hodges self help book called “Resolution to be Happy-Banish Stress and Anxiety Forever”. Like the quote, this book is extremely motivational and practical. Hodges opens by inspiring you, he reminds you of what a gift your life is and how many things had to happen to bring you into existence. With this awe-inspiring notion the author then moves onto to share some incredibly real and practical steps for taking back your life and forming it into one that’s stress and anxiety free. My favorite part about this book is just how easy it is to start doing the things it suggests. Literally anyone can choose to start practicing the habits described in the book whenever they want. You don’t have to go out and buy anything, and for most of them, you don’t really need to do any prep work either. Another great part is that the options provided in this book focus on both the mental and physical side of things, so many self-help books anymore just focus on one of the others, its refreshing to find one that incorporates activities that strengthen the mind and the body. Overall it was a really great and easy read that I would definitely recommend to any of my fellow stressed out friends. Whether you’re a single mom with a handful of children, or a busy businessman, anyone can benefit from the simple tips laid out in this book!
